The event was one of Prima Saigon’s community support activities to help students raise awareness in preventing eye disease and protecting healthy eyes.
Refractive errors are a common concern among school-age students and according to statistics, about 15-40 per cent of the population have myopia nationwide. In schools in metropolitan cities, children aged 6-15 with near-sightedness account for more than half of the class.
According to medical specialists, the heavy use of electronic devices, pressure to study, and an inadequate rest regime, can cause the eyes to adjust at close range for long periods, leading to visual impairment. This situation affects students’ quality of life and ability to learn.
At the event, Le Loi Secondary School students had their refraction measured and were given comprehensive eye consultations by a team of qualified doctors and optometrists from Prima Saigon Medical Centre. During the examination, doctors and opticians advised on nutrition and suitable prescription glasses and provided additional helpful eye-care tips, helping children realise the importance of early correction to prevent conditions such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and amblyopia.
The event is an annual medical treatment activity, marking the start of a series of Prima Saigon’s cooperative events with secondary and high schools in District 3 and throughout Ho Chi Minh City. The initiative offers students the opportunity to have eye examinations and vision measurements with a professional medical team specialising in ophthalmology to help them achieve success more easily in the future.
