Posterior Capsular Opacification and post-care instruction
4 August, 2023
The transparent membrane that covers the natural lens is called the posterior capsule. When performing Phaco surgery to treat cataracts (cataracts) to remove the cloudy lens and anterior capsule, the surgeon retains the posterior capsule to fix the IOL (artificial lens) in the patient’s eyes. Over time, the posterior capsule will become opaque, impairing the patient’s vision. The patient must be examined and assigned a posterior capsule laser at this time.
When does the patient need treatment for posterior capsular opacities?
- Vision changes, more decline than before
- Feel your eyes are bright
- Life is difficult
How to treat posterior capsule opacities?
- Posterior capsular cataract patients will be treated with a fast and safe Yag Laser, directly performed by an ophthalmologist.
- After treatment, patients need to pay attention to a few factors:
- Limit eye contact for too long with electronic devices such as computers, phones, TVs, sunlight, etc.
- Use sunglasses when out in the sun
- Do not use alcohol, beer, tobacco, and other stimulants
- Scientific activities, meals, and adequate rest
- Don’t stay up late so your eyes are too tired
