Prima Saigon: The method of treating myopia with Ortho-K night contact lenses is suitable for people who have never had refractive surgery, specifically as follows:
Eligible Candidate for Ortho-k
- People with refractive errors aged seven years and older (children old enough to cooperate reasonably with parents and doctors during examination).
- Young people, myopia < -6.00 diopters, astigmatism up to -2.50 diopters (astigmatism not exceeding 1/2 the degree of nearsightedness)
- People with astigmatism do not exceed ½ degree of myopia.
- Used in children with high myopia to prevent dangerous complications due to myopia. People with refractive errors but have low corrected vision.
- People with myopia use glasses to avoid the difference in myopia between the two eyes.
- People with refractive errors do not want or are not eligible for surgery.
- Up to now, the Ortho-K method has been approved by the FDA for treating myopia up to -6.00 Diop.
- Still, it is usually most effective for myopia below – 4.50 Diop.
- It can also treat astigmatism up to -2.50 Diopters, but the ideal astigmatism for best results is below -1.50.
