Early Presbyopia: Causes and Prevention

1. What is PRESBYOPIA?

Body aging, in general, and presbyopia are inevitable natural laws. According to experts, aging in the eyes with early symptoms such as blurry vision, eyestrain, and dry eyes … is the result of a disorder in protein synthesis in inherently transparent components such as the lens, vitreous, corneal, and “aging” of retinal pigment epithelial cells.

The worrying thing is that the aging process is accelerating more and more rapidly. Many people have just turned 40, but the “age of the eyes” has reached the age of 50, 60. Eye aging is getting younger and younger; eyes “aging” quickly, and the risk of blindness comes earlier.

Eye diseases caused by aging often have slow manifestations, the process progresses slowly, so it is easy for patients to be subjective without preventive measures, early and proper care; As a result, when the disease is detected, it is often at a severe stage that is difficult to intervene in treatment.

2. Some Protection Against Eye Aging

  • Protect your eyes when going out: wear sunglasses with UV protection, especially at the sunniest time: 10 am to 3 pm.
  • Proper eye care: Do not read too close or while sitting in moving vehicles. You should give the eyes a reasonable rest, do not let the eyes work continuously for a long time, especially when in contact with the computer.
  • Give up bad habits that harm your eyes, such as rubbing your eyes and staying up late. Smoking cigarettes and drinking less water are also harmful to the eyes. It would help if you practiced blinking often to prevent dry eyes.
  • Use eye protection if working in hazardous atmospheres.
  • Maintain a balanced diet: In particular, it is necessary to provide the eyes with essential nutrients such as zinc, vitamin B2, lutein, and zeaxanthin to help nourish healthy eye cells and prevent aging. Substances such as omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin C, and vitamin E promote better eye health, preventing age-related vision loss problems such as macular degeneration or cataracts.
  • Regular eye exams and exams at reputable hospitals: Everyone, including children, should have regular eye checks to protect their vision. An eye exam will help detect eye diseases in time, such as glaucoma, and refractive errors, even when the symptoms are unclear. That will make the treatment more accessible and more favorable.
